Youth Band Rules

The Responsible Band Member

When you are in a band, you are part of a team.  It is very important that you are responsible, because everyone else on the team depends on you to do your part.  Responsible band members respect each other.  Responsible band members attend all performances and rehearsals, are on time, practice and learn their parts, and listen to direction.

The rules for participation in a Wesley Youth band are:

1.      You must attend regularly.  Exceptions can be made for unforeseen or extraordinary problems.  If you cannot attend a rehearsal, you should notify us prior to the start of the rehearsal (leave us a message if there is no answer).   We ask that the band member actually make the call – not the parent.   This reinforces the lesson of student responsibility.

2.      Be on time.  This means you should get to rehearsal a few minutes early in order to get tuned, plugged in, and set up ready to play.

3.      Bring your music and other materials (capos, picks, guitar straps, etc.) to each rehearsal.

4.      You must practice and be able to play your part.  If you don’t practice, it may result in you not being allowed to continue in the band.

5.      Be there when your band plays.  Check to be sure you do not have conflicts on the dates your group is scheduled to play.
